About Me

I’m Karen Engler, a 20+ year publicity veteran. I work mostly on newly-published books, but I’m open to exalting content anytime, as long as it’s interesting. I’ve been a secret weapon on publicity teams and have an excellent working knowledge of the media as well as vast experience with books of all kinds. I also have uncanny knack for creating effective stories, spins and public relation strategies.

In other words, I’m a PR Go-To Girl!

I’ve been working all these years for other PR professionals, doing what I love: getting to know an author’s work, and then getting the media excited about it. The result has been great media coverage on a consistent basis.

Just a taste of the placements I’ve had in major media outlets include: CNN, MSNBC, Better TV, PopSugar, Hollywood Life, Daytime Show, Daily Buzz, Doug Stephan Show, Tavis Smiley, Dennis Miller Show, Jim Bohannon Show, Bill Bennett Show, CNNradio, yahoo SHINE, iVillage, glamour.com, Wall Street Journal, the LA Times, Chicago Tribune, Woman’s World Magazine, and countless other television, radio and online placements in cities like New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and in the top 50 Nielsen ranked cities.

Not every project I work on is with somebody famous. However, if you understand where the story is and explain it in a way that the media can hear, you can get the press excited about the work — whether it’s written by a name they know or not. I work on non-fiction, fiction, children’s books, cookbooks mostly. I know that seems like a lot, but remember, I have been working on media placements for five or more books per month for over twenty years.

In my free time you’ll find me dreaming up delicious recipes and then cooking them (but when it doesn’t work out, not eating them). I also love yoga, practicing tai chi, and am taking piano and jewelry making classes. When I have a moment alone, I prefer to practice the art of pondering my navel (very exclusive practice.)
